training at their first meeting, the Monitoring Committee on the Future of Las Terrenas completed Tourist a series of tasks aimed at clarifying its purpose, the process followed and the objectives in the short and medium term.

The meeting, held in local Anacaona Community Library on Tuesday, July 25 at 7 pm, began with a brief exchange of ideas in relation to teamwork. Dr. Jose Bourget, coordinator of the committee, distributed copies of MC Escher drawing entitled "Relativity" and asked participants about the "right" people in the picture. The drawing shows the viewer a variety of realities, all viable, but in itself inconsistent (see picture).

"The challenge before us," Bourget said, "is trying to find a common purpose over the different opinions, perspectives and interests of participating members." The common purpose is simple, "we all seek what is best for Las Terrenas, "Bourget emphasized," but to discover we must listen to all voices who want to talk and give voice to those who do not know they can talk, "he said.

A row developed a list of all existing community groups and / or potential as an initial part in the development of a market "voices" representative, authentic and sustainable. After the general list the result of "brainstorming" as a tool, it proceeded to subdivide them into groups including sub-committees were formed to work. Each committee was assigned a coordinator.

Subcommittees chosen were: private education, public education, government, tourism operators, Catholic Church, Protestant churches, the press (written, radio and TV), notables, tourism associations, NGOs, private institutions (including commercial), the associations and unions and, finally, the area of \u200b\u200bsports. The coordinators for each sub-committee would be invited for the second training session of the Monitoring Committee on Tuesday 1 August. Once expanded

Monitoring Committee will constitute a strategic task force teams to formalize the process through which each segment of the population has the opportunity to share their voice.

Public input sought in a very specific area of \u200b\u200bcommunity development, clearly focused on the question, "What should be the type of tourist destination to be held in Las Terrenas in the next 10 years? The subcommittees will conduct its work in time for a large community meeting held on 24 August (time and location to be announced).
