Microsoft plans to launch Windows 8 in 2012
After the problems caused by the long period between the outputs of Windows XP and Windows Vista, Microsoft plans from Windows 7 (released on October 29, 2009) follow a development cycle of three years. Unlike Windows 8 Windows 7 will be a "major release" Windows Vista as it was this implies radical changes in the operating system.
